More Shoes and Accessory Storage - This Time for Abbey's Room

I think it was after one of our early coat closet organization blogs where we thought we tackled a shoe problem when someone said "just wait until their shoes get bigger." Our laundry room drop zone piece has helped with that, but now we have yet another new shoe organization problem... Abbey wants to keep shoes in her room so she can pick them out with her outfits! I can't blame a girl, but with puppy George on the hunt for his next item to joyfully shred, we needed to find a way to get her shoes oraganized AND out of the dog's reach.

She had a short open wall space between her bedroom door and closet so I started looking for something to fit there.

I mean, it should have been obvious that we would need to get her shoes in here all along with this old sign of mine that hangs above the closet!

White and Gold Shoe Cabinet with Two Flip Drawers

I was hoping to find something that could hide shoes but not be such an eyesore and was excited to stumble on a shoe cabinet with drawers that matched her other white furniture. It came in a large box - which George thought he'd try to open for us. Proving my case that he's eating EVERYTHING right now! He doesnt look guilty at all! ;)

Zach and Abbey did the assembly - and said it took a solid few hours. He wasn't a fan of the installation instructions... but when it was all said and done, I am definitely a fan of the finished piece!

It's not too deep - only about 12" factoring in the wall anchors, so it doesnt stick out too much into the room at all.

What's cool about it is the two big doors swing open showing three racks to store shoes.

When opened, the shoes are all in neatly visible on each level. And when it closes, they store vertically.

The extra shelf and top will make for a great place to land other accessories, but for now, it's a display for all of her patinted pottery and other crafts and treasures.

And giving her all the credit for this idea... she put all her crock charms in her little painted mug. A perfect use for that finally!

Bonus Update: Cute Acrylic Accessory Storage

While we're on the topic of cute storage in Abbey's room, we had to share this little clear acryllic accessory storage box.

With four little drawers and three bigger ones, she's got a space for all of her small hair accessories and jewelry.

The diamond cut drawer fronts are hard to see but super cute in person. Gives a basic clear plastic storage continaer a little bit of a glam look!
